The  Ajanta Caves  are approximately 30 rock cut Buddhist cave monuments which date from the 2nd century BCE to about 480 CE in Aurangabad of maharatra state of India.The caves include paintings and rock-cut sculptures described as among the finest surviving examples of ancient indian art, particularly expressive paintings that present emotions through gesture, pose and form.They are universally regarded as masterpieces of Buddhist religious art.The caves were built in two phases, the first starting around the 2nd century BCE and the second occurring from 400–650 CE, according to older accounts, or in a brief period of 460–480 CE according to later scholarship.The site is a protected monument in the care of the Archeological survey of India.The Ajanta Caves are mentioned in the memoirs of several medieval-era Chinese Buddhist travellers to India and by a Mughal-era official of Akbar era in the early 17th century.The caves are ...

TajMahal

The Taj Mahal was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983 for being "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage". It is regarded by many as the best example of Mughal architecture and a symbol of India's rich history. The Taj Mahal attracts 7–8 million visitors a year and in 2007, it was declared a winner of the new  7 wonders of the world (2000–2007) initiative. The  Taj Mahal  'Crown of palace' is an ivory-white marble mausoleum on the southern bank of the river Yamuna in the Indian city of Agra. It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal Empire Shah Jahan(reigned from 1628 to 1658) to house the tomb of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal; it also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself. Raigad

Raigad  is a  hill fort  situated in  Mahad ,  Raigad district  of  Maharashtra ,  India . It is one of the strongest fortresses on the  Deccan Plateau . The Raigad Fort was built by Chhatrapati Shivaji [ citation needed ]  and the chief architect/engineer was Hiroji Indulkar. The main palace was constructed using wood, of which only the base pillars remain. The only main pathway to the fort passes through the "Maha Darwaja" (Huge Door) which was previously closed at sunset. The Maha Darwaja has two huge bastions on both sides of the door which are approximately 65–70 feet in height. The top of the fort is 600 ft above this door. From the fort, one can view the execution point called  Takmak Tok , a cliff from which sentenced prisoners were thrown to their death. This area has been fenced off.

Sinhagad Fort

Sinhagad  is a hill fortress located at around 35 km southwest of the city of  Pune ,  India .This fort suggests that the fort could have been built 2000 years ago. Previously known as  Kondhana , the fort had been the site of many battles, most notably the  Battle of Sinhagad  in 1670. [ the fort is situated on a hill about 760 metres above ground and 1,312 metres above mean sea level.There are two gates to enter the fort, the Kalyan Darwaza and Pune Darwaza which are positioned at the south east and north-east ends respectively.One of the most famous battles on Sinhgad was fought by  Tanaji Malusare , general of  Shivaji  of the Maratha Empire in order to recapture the fort on March 1670.There is an anecdote that upon hearing of Tanaji's death, Shivaji expressed his remorse with the words, " Gad aala, pan Sinha gela " - " The Fort is conquered, but the Lion was lost ". Shivneri Fort

Birthplace of first Maratha king Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The fort is a small kind of trek. It will take one hour to reach to the peak for average man. There is parking facility, drinking water and washroom facilities provided by the government. Some modifications are done which attracts the visitors from all age groups. One can have a beautiful view of surrounding from the top. The place holds enormous importance since it is the birthplace of great Maratha king. Fort is quite crowded on weekends. Overall it is highly recommended to visit the fort and get aware about the history the fort holds.

janjira

Murud-Janjira Fort is situated on an oval-shaped rock off the Arabian Sea coast near the port city of Murud, 165 km (103 mi) south of Mumbai . Janjira is considered one of the strongest marine forts in India. The fort is approached by sailboats from Rajapuri jetty. The main gate of the fort faces Rajapuri on the shore and can be seen only when one is about 40 feet (12 m) away from it. It has a small postern gate towards the open sea for escape. The fort has 26 rounded bastions, still intact. There are many cannons of native and European make rusting on the bastions. Now in ruins, the fort in its heyday was a full-fledged living fort with all the necessary facilities, e.g., palaces, quarters for officers, mosque, two small 60-foot-deep (18 m) natural fresh water lakes , etc.
